The goal of Manifesto’s Table for Ten has always been to gather interesting people around intriguing cuisine in a curious venue. Our most recent event did just that. We invited some of Portland’s most creative and entrepreneurial minds to spend the evening with us at New Deal Distillery’s tasting room on Portland’s east side to share and learn from each other’s experiences, aspirations, and motivations to spark new ideas and fresh connections between people and perspectives.

Our friends at Park Kitchen graced us with a five course meal. Each course was paired with its own delicately crafted cocktail centered around the night’s theme: “Simplicity.”

As it is with every Table for Ten, we asked each guest to bring and speak to an item that related to the theme. The question we posed was: “What does it mean to start with simplicity?”

Artifacts ranged from a Tesla key that represented the foundation of sustainability, to father-son art projects that spoke to the importance of connection, to the very first Leatherman prototype (borrowed from the archives) to speak to humble beginnings, to a Tibetan singing bowl that signified the importance of morning routines, to a very rare pair of Dornbecher Freestyle Nikes that told the story of collaboration for the greater good. Each artifact was imbued with a story of personal significance and offered a portal to the storyteller’s fundamental convictions. In typical Table for Ten fashion, participants approached the topic from a wide variety of angles and perspectives and shared a piece of their heart with rest of us.

Every Table for Ten event is an opportunity to learn, connect, and network with people from various industries and backgrounds. The casual, out of the way atmosphere takes us out of the ordinary and creates space for us to meet one another in the most human of ways - over a meal. We’re very thankful to everyone in attendance - you are the reason these events are so inspiring. Each table for ten is a unique constellation of guests, venue, food, and imaginations - we can’t wait for the next one.
