Winter 2015 - Oregon Museum of Science and Industry

Since 1949 the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, better known as OMSI, has been enriching lives in the Pacific Northwest.  Their mission:  to inspire curiosity through engaging science learning experiences, foster experimentation and the exchange of ideas, and stimulate informed action. OMSI graciously hosted January’s Table for Ten, lending Manifesto the use of their Kendall Planetarium to awe our guests. The planetarium’s 52ft dome (the largest in the PNW) is commonly used to view dynamic laser light shows and interactive tours of our galaxy, but on January 29th it transformed us to a warm summer night complete with crickets chirping in the background.

While guests grabbed their mint lemonade spritzers (served up in mason jars), OMSI’s creative services director, Todd Kehoe, treated us to a private tour of OMSI’s exhibit workshop in the Pepco building. We were shown past and future museum installations and exhibits that are designed and produced in the workshop in preparation to travel to other museums across the world.

In keeping with our summertime theme, Theory at OMSI provided a dinner menu boasting summertime favorites. Guests dined on a delicious family style dinner of gazpacho, panzanella salad, hanger steak, and finished the meal with a delectable quince tarte.

Our guest list featured many individuals from the creative community, including guests from Nike, OMSI, U of O, Intel, Wieden + Kennedy, The Program,  Ziba, and Accell. We shared inspiring stories of where we’re from and where we’re headed while creating memories and new friendships.
