Fall 2018 - Lake Oswego

When we think about creating space, often times we look to the places where we live, where we work or even the room we create to do something -- anything. But sometimes, space is more than that. Rather than the physical space, we challenged ourselves and our guests to look a little deeper.

Our Fall Table for Ten event was centered around “Creating Space,” and we asked each of our guests to bring one unique item that told the story of how they create space -- space in life, space to dream, space to be inspired by the moments that matter most. Whether it’s the home you built or the design book you used to build it, or perhaps the time you give yourself for a quiet walk in the woods, we can all discover ourselves in the solitude of the spaces that we create.

Selected as one of Dwell’s 2018 Portland Home Tour destinations, the custom Pacific Northwest residence was the perfect backdrop for our Fall event. Co-founders of Markette Six, Justin and Heather Knapp left Silicon Valley to create a live-work integrated space that would be a reflection of their design aesthetic, love of detail and modern architecture.

Scott Dolich and the team at Park Kitchen served up a char-grilled farm-to-table meal complemented by a fig-infused cocktail to kick off the evening. Our guests ranged from brand marketers to artists, agency-types, and entrepreneurs. Gathered around the table and eventually by the warm fireside, each guest shared their most intimate stories, ranging from being inspired by an architectural graphic design book that informed a perspective of human-centered design, to the thrill of hand-forging a violin cast while working in Kohler’s artist forge as an artist-in-residence. The stories that were shared all held a common theme -- that no matter what you do, creating space for the moments and experiences that matter most is really what keeps creators inspired.

A special thanks to our hosts, Justin and Heather Knapp, for opening up their home to host this beautiful Fall event, and to our partners at Park Kitchen, Wolf Ceramics and Orox Leather Co. for helping us create another memorable Table for Ten.
